    • To qualify for a jar of pickles, customers must bring in a minimum of five books, and the store has a strict one jar per donation policy, regardless of the amount of books a customer donates. “Even 500 books can only get you one jar,” USA Today notes.

Staten Island bathroom wins major architectural award (Gothamist)

  • When ya gotta go, go to Staten Island. 🚽 The Lopez Playground public restroom — sorry, the award-winning Lopez Playground Public Restroom — was built on Staten Island’s North Shore using a modular design developed to enable easy citywide delivery and installation.

    • This week, it won an award from the American Institute of Architects New York, which honors projects of outstanding architectural design.
