New York City’s high school application season is officially underway, giving families two months to navigate 700 programs across 400 schools. 🏫 (Chalkbeat)
Open houses at many schools are already full! Applications are due Dec. 3, with offers expected by Mar. 5, 2026.
New York City is expanding its LockerNYC pilot program to 70 total locations, aiming to reduce package theft and delivery truck congestion. 📦 (Supply Chain Dive)
The Department of Transportation will add 36 new locker sites across all five boroughs in the coming weeks.
Operated by GoLocker, the free public lockers accept deliveries from major carriers like UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL.

Normally today we would dive into the latest jobs report (which gets published the first Friday of every month). But with the federal government shut down, that report is delayed.
Have no fear: That doesn’t mean we can’t give you insight into the state of tech jobs across the city and country. 💼
🔍 What we’re seeing: NYC has managed to stay resilient, and local demand for in-person talent remains strong.
The Tech:NYC Jobs Board currently lists 3,300+ active roles from 400 tech companies, spanning startups, large tech firms, and fintech — all focused on in-person NYC placements.
In the last two months alone, our members are hiring for ~60,000 tech jobs globally (!).
Top job functions posted by companies from the last two months: Software engineering (33,200 occurrences), IT (~19,000), and operations (12,400).
Top job functions searched from candidates: Marketing/communications, product, software engineering.
📈 AI hiring is still surging nationwide: And New York looks poised to reap the benefits.
Nationwide, the U.S. added 26,715 new AI-related jobs in August — with New York ranking among the top states for AI hiring intensity and role diversification.
Since January 2018, NY ranks third in AI jobs growth with 97,000 AI jobs.
AI job demand is expanding into industries like finance, media, and healthtech — AKA a trifecta of NYC strengths.
