  • New York City just rolled out nearly 100,000 3-K and Pre-K offers for next school year, as City Hall pushes closer to universal childcare and shorter commutes for parents. 👶 (CBS New York

    • City officials say 70% of families received one of their top 3-K choices, while 85% landed in one of their top three programs.

    • State funding also helped add 2,000 new 3-K seats citywide.

  • Orchard Beach’s historic pavilion is finally reopening after sitting mostly dormant for 17 years, giving the ‘Bronx Riviera’ a $114 million refresh just in time for summer. 🌊 (PIX 11

    • The revamped 1930s landmark now includes upgraded concession stands, new bathrooms, and accessible ramps overlooking the beach.

    • Developers even kept many of the original design details intact, including the blue terracotta tiles and terrazzo floors.

  • This Memorial Day weekend is shaping up to be the busiest on record, with an estimated 45 million Americans traveling. If you’re heading to the Jersey Shore, the Hamptons, or anywhere with a beach, you should start mentally preparing now for intense traffic. Here are the best and worst times to travel throughout NYC this weekend. 🚗 (FOX New York)

    • The worst local traffic is expected Friday at 2:15pm, when travel times on the Garden State Parkway toward the Shore could more than double.

    • Traffic experts say the best move is either leaving very early, very late, or accepting that your “quick weekend getaway” starts in standstill traffic on I-95.
