eBay is opening a launching a SoHo pop-up — but you'll have to sell something to get in (Time Out New York)
eBay has launched a three-day IRL “NYC Edit” pop-up shop starting today where the price of entry is a listing. 💸 That’s right — to get inside, you’ll need to bring something and put it up for sale on the platform, either in advance or on-site.
The shop gives more “curated market” than “thrift store,” and the end result is a constantly updating feed of what New Yorkers are wearing (and selling) right now.
A high-tech farming company just picked New York for its U.S. headquarters (Empire State Development)
Some agtech news from our upstate friends: Global agribusiness firm Oxbo is opening a massive new facility in Genesee County, bringing jobs and advanced manufacturing to New York’s agriculture sector. 🌽
Oxbo’s new $60.5 million, 200,000 square foot site will produce specialized harvesting equipment and bring dozens of jobs to the community.
The move is part of a broader push to take a more innovative approach to modernizing the agriculture sector and grow New York’s economy.
Would you kiss NYC dogs or smell their breath for $1K an hour? (Gothamist)
Only in NYC? A New York pet food company is hiring people to sniff dogs’ breath and accept kisses — all in the name of product research. 🐶
The roles involve meeting dogs around the city, rating their breath (yes, really), and documenting the experience in detail.
“We need someone brave, bold, and nosy (literally) to get up close and personal with NYC’s finest canines,” the ad reads.
‘Greater New York’ brings the noisy, messy vitality of 53 artists (New York Times)
A major exhibition at MoMA PS1 brings together artists living and working across the city, capturing its messy, high-energy creative scene. 🖼️
The exhibit takes over the entire museum with more than 150 works, spanning everything from sculpture made of street materials to an exhibit on delivery workers.
Happy little trees to see (and buy): Genuine Bob Ross paintings now on exhibit in Manhattan ahead of next week’s auction (amNY)
Original works by Bob Ross are going on display in Manhattan before being auctioned off for tens of thousands of dollars. 🎨
The paintings will be shown at Bonhams ahead of an auction benefiting public television, with starting bids ranging from $30,000 to $50,000.
No word on whether showing up in a Bob Ross wig will get you a discount.
Have a happy little weekend, New York! 🗽
